Mile 28 - There are stretches of the canal where there's nothing notable, just a lot of natural beauty. This area is part of the McKee-Besher Wildlife Management Area which has a few swampy parts. But it's not unusual to see sections like this: the canal partially filled in and the water covered with duckweed.

Just off of Hunter's Quarry Road, there's a rather large wetland.
I'd guess that the petals of these flowers are about half a foot across, and there's quite a few of them.
