Great Falls in 3D

WideWater (just under the Falls Church note) is the overlook area and in this 3-D rendition, you can see how steep the elevations are.  I have the vertical exaggeration turned way up in this rendition though so it's all relative.  Also note, the steep elevation changes in the Potomac itself.  The C & O Canal is depicted as a dotted red line.
